Fatimas Favourite Foods was founded in 1994 by Mr. Mohamed Akoob and Mr. Omar Arbee along with their wives. They found an opportunity in the market where no person had seen before. The 2 partners along with their wives, Zakiya and Fatima, started in a small office in Durban not larger than 15m2 with just one product, Samoosa Pastry. They would go selling shop to shop in order to try and grow the business. In 2000 they purchased their first factory in Umgeni Road, Durban. This was a landmark for the company as it allowed them to develop more products such as ready-made samosas, spring rolls, and pies.

In 2001 the Gauteng branch opened out of MR Akoob’s home garage. Within 6 years the business had outgrown the garage and had to purchase another factory in Gauteng.  By opening another factory it allowed the company to grow onto the next level and start with exports. The business grew at a staggering rate which resulted in them opening up a distribution center in Western Cape in 2013. As of 2020, the company employs over 100 staff between the 3 branches. We have combined manufacturing and warehousing space of 4000m2.

We now export products into Africa, as well as the UAE and, will continue to grow. The second generation has now also entered into the business with MR Muhammed Akoob and MR Muhammed Arbee having taken management roles in the business. This will ensure that the business continues to grow and prosper for years to come.
